New Delhi, March 17: The government aims to increase electronics manufacturing capacity to Rs 24 lakh crore by 2025-26, which will also help create over 10,000 jobs, Electronics and IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Friday.

Speaking at an event in Bengaluru, the minister said the country is at a turning point today – the most exciting period in its history – and the current generation of students is the luckiest generation in the history of independent India.

“…The Narendra Modi government aims to increase electronics manufacturing capacity to Rs 24,000 crore by 2025-26, which will also help create more than 10,000 crore jobs,” he said in an official statement.

He said there are more than 90,000 startups, including 110 unicorns, where young Indians play a major role.

The Minister said that at least 15 lakh young Indians from Karnataka will be trained in industrially relevant future skills.

“Remembering ‘Appu’ (popular Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, as he was popularly called) on his birthday, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the day is being celebrated as ‘Spoorti Dina’ or inspiration day and that the occasion could not be more appropriate to discuss the possibilities of IndiaTechade with the students,” the statement said.

Asked about the Silicon Valley Bank crisis and the Indian government’s role in mitigating startups’ woes, Chandrasekhar said, “India’s banking system is far more resilient and robust than any other country’s banking system.
