The latest iPhone 15 leak reveals shocking features from Apple

The latest leaks about the iPhone 15 revealed some unexpected design choices, such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s special periscope camera and new motion button controls. However, the biggest surprise is that these iPhones are designed to be compatible with different standards.

According to ChargerLab, which leaked the news as a reliable source, all iPhone 15 models support fast wireless charging at 15 watts using the Qi2 standard. This is a huge turnaround for Apple, as until now its wireless charging was limited to 7.5 watts and Apple MagSafe accessories could only reach 15 watts.

By combining fast wireless charging with the iPhone 15’s USB-C wired charging, Apple ventures into virgin territory with its new iPhones.

“Charger Lab has confirmed through its supply chain that Apple’s MagSafe unit costs approximately $16, which is the majority of the total cost and increases retail prices,” the website says. “The new Qi2 wireless charging module costs less than a third of the price of Apple’s MagSafe module, and manufacturers do not need to be MFi members.” This means that cheaper and faster wireless charging accessories will enter the market.

Qi2 is based on Apple’s MagSafe standard and includes the same magnetic ring that holds the chargers in place.

EU law requires Apple to adopt USB-C by December 2024, but it could have continued to use the Lightning connector on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 (assumed to be released in September 2023 and 2024, respectively).

Additionally, iOS 17 is expected to allow installing apps from third-party app stores. The European Union pressured Apple to open the App Store, but the change was not expected until a year later. Apple is now implementing this change.

With so many changes going on at Apple, we’re really looking forward to any updates to the iPhone 15. And one can only imagine what changes will be made to the iPhone 16.
