OnePlus was forced to pause the Android 13 update: Here’s why

OnePlus is busy preparing for the global OnePlus 11 series launch event in less than a week, but the company has other issues with its existing users. The company is concerned about bricking cases reported by OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro owners, and it looks like OnePlus has finally figured out that the Android 13 OxygenOS update is to blame.

The company has even posted a Do Not Install update on its community forum, but the warning has come a little too late for many who have already installed the update and are stuck with an unusable OnePlus 9/9 pro phone.

So you have to wonder why OnePlus delayed sharing this information with users, which may have reduced the number of affected units. Well, it turns out that OnePlus didn’t have its OxygenOS team at work due to Chinese New Year.

As strange as it may sound, the company should be commended for being honest about the cause, but it probably won’t go down well with those still using the OnePlus 9/9 Pro models.

“During the initial release to a small subset of users, we noticed that a few of them encountered an issue w

the update would not start. To avoid affecting more users, we immediately stopped the rollout and started investigating the issue,” OnePlus has emphasized in its message here.

The affected version was OxygenOS 13 F.19 with firmware LE2111_11.F.19 on the OnePlus 9 and LE2121_11.F.19 for those with the OnePlus 9 Pro smartphone. It has also released a new update version F.20 to fix devices that rebooted after installing version F.19.

The company realizes the mistake at its end and wants to compensate every user suffering from the problem who contacts the service center or sends the device using the OnePlus mail order repair service. OnePlus assures that their devices will be restored to their previous settings and they will not lose any data stored on the phone.
