Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will be available for PC on July 26th

After our in-depth review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, there’s even more news from the Insomniac Games camp. The studio’s previous title, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, will be available for PC on July 26.

As is often the case with PlayStation-exclusive PC versions, there are some extra bells and whistles. There are “new ray-tracing shadows for natural light for outdoor areas” that allow for “realistic shadows with natural tones of softness,” notes Julian Huegbrights, an expert on the Nixxes online community (a Sony studio working on the port) on PlayStation. Blog. Gameplay and cutscenes are optimized for ultra-wide screens, including aspect ratios of 21:9, 32:9, and even 48:9 for three-screen setups.

In addition to unlocked frames, refresh technology is supported, including NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 2, Intel XeSS, and Insomniac’s Temporal Injection, along with NVIDIA Reflex and NVIDIA DLAA anti-aliasing. You can use a keyboard and mouse with fully customizable controls or a controller. Pair DualSense and you’ll experience the same haptic feedback and dynamic trigger effects you know on PS5.

I was finally able to play Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart after it recently came to PlayStation Plus, and I had a lot of fun with it. It’s an amazingly good game with strong combat, fascinating characters, and clever text. Insomniac also makes better use of DualSense’s capabilities than most studios.

Fingers crossed that Insomniac and Nixxes can avoid the kind of technical problems that plague PC versions of other Sony games. The Last of Us Part 1 (Iron Galaxy worked with Naughty Dog on this port) and Horizon Zero Dawn, which Nixxes helped fix, both initially had noticeable issues on PC.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart relies on the PlayStation 5’s fast load times to make dimension hopping work seamlessly. With that (and the gorgeous visuals) in mind, you’ll probably need a powerful gaming rig to get the most out of the port. So it might be worth waiting for Sony to reveal the PC specs before pre-ordering from Steam or the Epic Games Store.
