Sony introduces accessibility tags for games on the PlayStation Store: All the details here

Sony has been very vocal about bringing new accessibility features to PlayStation – both in first-party games and the PS5 console interface, and now the gaming giant is introducing a new Accessibility Tags feature that allows game developers to provide detailed information about supported accessibility features. in their games.

“When browsing different game hubs in the PlayStation Store game hubs on PS5, you can see a list of accessibility features by pressing the ‘Triangle’ button if the game you’ve selected supports Accessibility Tags,” Sony said in a blog post.

The Accessibility Tags feature is available for both PS5 and PS4 games from the PlayStation Store on PS5. When both PS5 and PS4 versions of a title are available, you can use the drop-down menu to compare the accessibility tags for each.

Sony claims there are more than 50 accessibility tags to choose from in six different categories: visual, audio, subtitles, control, gameplay, and online communication.

PlayStation Store for PS5 is getting Accessibility Tags this week. But initially, first-party PlayStation Studios games like God of War, Returnal, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will only support these tags at launch, and more games will be added gradually. The feature will roll out to PS5 game centers over the course of the year as more developers join.

“Combined with the PS5 console’s extensive accessibility options, Accessibility Tags give you the ability to tailor your PS5 gaming experience to your unique gaming needs,” Sony said.

This is yet another Sony initiative to make video games more accessible to more people, alongside Project Leonardo announced last year.
