WhatsApp introduces multi-selection feature for messages on Windows: what it means

Good news for WhatsApp users worldwide, the Meta-owned instant messaging app is reportedly working on several new features, including a new multi-select mode on Windows. According to a new report, WhatsApp is rolling out a new update to its Windows native app through the official beta channel of the Microsoft Store.

According to WhatsApp-tracking website WABetaInfo, the instant messaging app is rolling out a context menu option to select messages for some beta testers. “Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2309.2.0 update available from the Microsoft Store, some users can now select multiple messages in a conversation and then either delete or send them all at once,” the report states.

According to a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, it’s now possible to select multiple messages after clicking “Select” from the context menu of a conversation on top of a message. Alternatively, you can click anywhere within the conversation to bring up the “Select messages” option. This button allows users to select multiple messages in a conversation and then delete, star, copy, or send them all at once.

This feature is really important because it provides useful benefits. Previously, users had to select messages individually and delete or send them one by one. With this new feature, users can finally select multiple messages at once, saving time and effort.

With the ability to select multiple messages, users can have more control over their chat history: they can delete or forward certain messages, and it is also possible to save them by marking them with a star, making it easier to manage conversations and storage space.

The ability to select messages has been released to beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2309.2.0 update available from the Microsoft Store. If you don’t see this update in the Microsoft Store, note that it will roll out to more users over the next day, according to the report.
