In 2023, Apple dominates India’s tablet PC market with a 25% share.
According to a report, Apple maintained its position as the leader in the Indian tablet PC market in 2023, holding a 25% share. This dominance continued in the December quarter, despite a decrease in its shipments.
Samsung was in second place with a 23 percent market share in 2023, market research firm CyberMedia Research said on Monday.
“In CY (calendar year) 2023, Apple led the tablet market with 25 percent market share, followed by Samsung with 23 percent in 2023,” CyberMedia Research’s (CMR) India quarterly Tablet PC Market Review report said.
Apple’s Tablet PC shipments fell 17 percent year-over-year (yoY). In the December quarter, Lenovo ranked second with a 24 percent market share, despite a 3 percent drop in shipments. According to the report, shipments of Samsung’s tablet computers increased by 36 percent over the comparison period.
“There is a growing demand in India for various tablet options, including premium, 5G and value-for-money tablets. The growth is particularly noticeable in the B2B sector and online shopping,” CMR, Analyst – Industry Intelligence Group (IIG) ), Menka Kumari said .

The market had strong quarterly growth of 21 percent in the last quarter of 2023, boosted by strong demand for 5G tablets.
“Shipments of 5G tablets grew 43 percent year-over-year, accounting for a significant share of the market. Wi-Fi tablets also performed well, growing 13 percent year-over-year and taking 52 percent of total shipments,” the report states.
According to the report, the premium tablet segment priced between ₹20,000-30,000 each saw a 95% QoQ jump, indicating a clear shift towards high-end devices.
CMR estimates that the tablet market is expected to grow at a steady rate of 5-10 percent in 2024 due to factors such as technological advancements, diverse product offerings, and changing consumer preferences.
