According to a Reuters report, during the meeting, Cho expressed his interest in Meta’s extensive language model-based AI technology and future AI collaboration.
2. Apple’s electric car project was canceled because of its focus on artificial intelligence
Apple’s Titan project, which included a vision of building electric cars, has been canceled. The project involved more than 2,000 employees, who will now move to the iPhone’s artificial intelligence division. The company had already spent billions of dollars on research and development. According to reports, the decision was made to focus on building Apple’s generative AI and mixed reality products. The Bloomberg report emphasized that the decision had been long awaited and was finally made official to employees on Tuesday.
3. IIT Kanpur collaborates with UP government to improve telemedicine services using artificial intelligence
Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur collaborated with the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh to develop advanced telemedicine equipment using artificial intelligence. According to a report by Moneycontrol, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has already been signed and emphasizes on “improving the quality of telemedicine services by deploying AI-based solutions to address population health outcomes.”
4. Krutrim AI chatbot offers funny and wrong answers
Krutrim AI chatbot was released recently. It is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot created by Ola-backed startup Krutrim Si Designs. However, within just a few days, it started making headlines for its strange and incorrect answers. Users have been sharing screenshots on social media platforms showing funny responses generated by the chatbot. According to a Moneycontrol report, the tool said, “The 1983 Cricket World Cup was won by the West Indies” and “Hillary Clinton won the 2014 US presidential election.” Not only that, it even crowned the Ather 450X Gen 3 as the best e-scooter, not the Ola Electric. In particular, Ather is Ola’s competitor.
5. China offers huge salaries for engineers with GenAI skills
Employers in China are offering huge salaries to engineers with AI skills. A computer vision engineer with GenAI skills is offered 480,000 yuan, about 66,674 USD. The study also reported that demand for GenAI skills has increased by 179 percent in the first 10 months of 2023, with 60 percent of companies looking to employ advanced generative AI skills. According to a report by Chinese recruitment agency Liepin, people in less technical roles with GenAI skills are also offered higher salaries, two-thirds higher than the 290,000 yuan their colleagues earn without such knowledge.
