512GB and 1TB Variants of Apple Vision Pro Available for Pre-Order in the US
Apple Vision Pro, the company’s first mixed-reality headset or “space computer,” is now available for pre-order in the United States through both its online and offline retail channels. Those who order now will start receiving shipments on February 2nd, the official release date. However, based on what we’ve seen, deliveries of all variants have already been pushed back to March due to a possible combination of high demand and limited inventory.
Pre-order, options
If you order Vision Pro online, Apple prompts you to first scan your face with an iPhone or iPad equipped with FaceID. Only then can you choose an option and proceed to checkout. Apple takes this step to ensure you get the right fit for the Light Seal and headband, providing an optimal user experience. If you decide to buy offline, Apple experts at its official stores in the US will help you through the same process.
The Vision Pro comes in three versions: a base 256GB model, a 512GB version and a top-of-the-line 1TB version. They are priced at $3,499, $3,699 and $3,899 respectively.
Apple Vision Pro: What’s Inside the Box?
The Vision Pro box includes the headset itself, Solo Knit Band, Dual Loop Band, Light Seal, Light Seal Cushion, front cover, polishing cloth, 30W USB-C power supply and cable, and battery.
For those who need vision correction with glasses, Vision Pro needs ZEISS optical inserts. These inner parts attach magnetically to the Vision Pro headset. However, if soft contact lenses are used, there is no need for inserts, as Apple claims the Vision Pro is compatible with soft contact lenses.
Apple Vision Pro specifications and features
The Apple Vision Pro headphones are powered by Apple’s in-house M2 chipset, which is based on the 5nm process and is the company’s second-generation chip. Apple has also introduced a new R1 chip to improve immersion and make virtual objects feel more realistic.
The headphones have two micro-OLED screens with a combined resolution of 23 million pixels and a fast refresh rate of up to 100 Hz, which allows for an immersive experience. It runs on visionOS, the iPhone maker’s new 3D operating system designed specifically for this new product line.
Apple has also emphasized the entertainment capabilities of the Vision Pro, partnering with the likes of Disney to bring 3D content to the headset. Through the Apple TV app, users can watch more than 150 3D movies, including titles like Avatar: The Way of Water. You can also play games on VisionOS on its own or by connecting a console controller such as the Sony DualSense.
