Google introduces a special watermark for AI images
Google’s DeepMind team has been working on a special watermark for artificial intelligence images that is impossible to edit. Google released this new AI watermark for images today, called SynthID, according to a report by The Verge. The watermark is embedded in the pixels of the image, but does not change it in any noticeable way. However, it shows up in recognition tests and confirms that the image is created by artificial intelligence.
“It does not change the picture, the quality of the picture or the experience of it. But it’s robust to various transformations — cropping, resizing, and all the things you can try to get around normal, traditional, simple watermarks,” said Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind.
This watermark is believed to solve the problem of deep counterfeiting.
