Google Announces Tool To Help Find The Optimal Time To Book Flights
Good news for air travelers, Google Flights, Google’s online flight booking search service, has launched a new feature called Insights. This feature gives users suggestions on the best time to buy flight tickets at the cheapest price. These suggestions are based on historical data for the flight in question.
“With Google Flights, you can already see if the current prices for your search are low, typical, or high compared to past averages for the same route. But the age-old question remains: Is it better to book now or wait for cheaper prices?” Google wrote in a blog post.
“So this week, we’re rolling out updated insights to make the choice a little easier. In trusted trend data searches, you can now see when prices have typically been lowest so you can book the dates and destination of your choice,” the US tech giant said.
According to Google, these insights can tell you that the best time to book similar trips is usually about two months before your travel date, and you’re in that good window right now. This way you can make your decision more confidently. Google Flights statistics will begin to be published this week.
Google Flights has a lot of useful features, and price tracking is one of them. When you enable this, Google will notify you if flight prices drop a lot. You can wear it on specific dates, like your friend’s wedding in February. Or you can select “All Dates” to get alerts about deals for the next three to six months if you’re ready for flexible travel.
To enable this feature, make sure you’re signed in to your Google account.
Another interesting feature is the price guarantee. Some flight results show a colorful price guarantee symbol, which means Google is extra confident that the price you see today won’t drop before departure.
When you book one of these flights, Google will monitor the price every day before takeoff, and if the price drops, Google will refund you the difference via Google Pay.
