Apple M3-Powered MacBooks May Be Delayed Until 2021
Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is said to be working on new MacBook models with the latest M3 chips. After a few earlier reports suggested that the new M3 MacBooks would be launched this year, a new leak has now claimed that the company may skip the launch in 2023.
According to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it looks like Apple won’t release new MacBook models (with M3-series processors) until the end of this year. Recently, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that this year’s October Apple event may introduce new Macs with the M3 chip.
He mentioned that Macs being considered for the M3 chip include the 13-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and 24-inch iMac. Kuo rules out new MacBooks, but left room for the possibility of a new iMac later this year.
According to MacRumors, the yet-to-be-revealed M3 chip is expected to be manufactured on TSMC’s 3nm process, offering significant improvements in performance and power efficiency over the current M2 chip, which was introduced in June 2022 and is based on a 5nm process.
