Apptopia Reports 30% Decrease in Downloads Following Rebranding

The social media app formerly known as Twitter, now called X, is currently experiencing significant challenges in terms of its popularity and number of downloads. Despite the positive impact of Elon Musk’s involvement, which has led to an increase in active users, the app has recently faced its lowest number of downloads in ten years. Within just 60 days, downloads have dropped by 30 percent. This decline in popularity may not be unexpected for Musk, considering the numerous changes the app has undergone in recent months. Instead of the anticipated growth, the impact of these changes is evident in the decrease in downloads.

Twitter’s lowest downloads

According to a report published by Apptopia (Via Business Insider), app downloads have dropped by 30 percent in almost all major countries, including the US, UK, and Japan, after the app underwent extensive rebranding to X. This would be the app’s lowest decline in a decade. Not only does the app suffer, but the website twitter.com also faces a 10% drop in traffic in August.

The X app also has less active users who open the app regularly. September’s daily User Statistics show a drop to 249 million from July’s nearly 253 million users. In terms of monthly users, there are now 393 million users, up from 398 million in July.

Business Insider reports that the exodus of a huge X staff can be considered a really big problem. In addition, advertisers who do not choose a platform for their active offers also reduce revenue.
