Riots Erupt After Release of iPhone 15: Apple Store Looted in US [Video]

In Philadelphia, USA, a group of youths robbed the Apple Walnut Street Store and other stores in the area, including Chestnut and Lululemon, in the center of the city, as several videos appeared online and NBC Philadelphia reported.

According to the report, Philadelphia police began receiving calls around 8:00 p.m. that several youths were heading to Center City.

And based on videos shared online on social media, a number of youths can be seen pandering to an Apple Store – stealing the flashy latest iPhone 15 models.

“Stanford also said police have made 15 to 20 arrests so far and two firearms have been recovered, but they are not sure if they are related to the robbery,” NBC reported.

Additionally, more than 100 youths and young adults are said to have been involved as part of the crime, but Philadelphia police are not sure at this time how many businesses other than the Apple Store, Lululemon and Chestnut were affected.

In particular, this case follows the recent protests that arose after the charges against the police officer who shot Eddie Irizarry were dropped.

“A couple of kids decided they wanted to take full advantage of the unjust shooting that happened,” Hakeem Russell, a security guard who works at a Wendy’s store in the area, told NBC Philadelphia. “There’s definitely been unrest around here since the verdict,” he added.

It is also interesting to note that Apple is known to block such stolen units whenever a similar incident has occurred in the past.
