Google Bard’s Latest Update Allows for Real-Time Interaction and Mid-Sentence Interruption
Google has enhanced its generative AI chatbot, Bard, with an impressive and convenient new capability. Following the update, Bard can now provide real-time responses and users have the option to interrupt it mid-sentence. This advancement aligns Bard with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, allowing users to experience instantaneous replies and halt text generation midway. This feature is anticipated to enhance the platform’s convenience and efficiency, eliminating the need for users to wait for the complete text generation, review it, and rephrase their prompt for a more meaningful response.
Google posted an announcement about the update, saying, “We’re rolling out a new setting that lets Bard’s responses appear during the process, so you don’t have to wait for the full response to appear.” Explaining the reasoning behind this feature, Google said: “Now you can start reading responses while they’re still being generated, so you can stay in the creative flow and iterate your ideas faster.”
Google Bard gets real-time answers
We checked the feature ourselves and found that a new option was added to the settings that says “Reply in real time” and disabling it would prompt “Reply when you’re ready.” By default, real-time response remains active. There’s still a few second wait time for the Bard to process the prompt, and you’ll see it glow in different colors. But after that it comes alive and you see the answers come up line by line.
If you feel that the answer is of no use to you, you don’t have to sit through the whole thing either. A blue “Skip Response” button will appear right above the text field, stopping the chatbot and allowing you to use a different prompt for better results.
If you have to wait for a full answer and you’re not happy with it, you can still click the “show other drafts” button, which will show you Bard’s other alternative answers. You can also choose any of them based on your preference. In addition, it is possible to modify the tonality of the answer, making it sound more casual or professional.
