Apple May Delay Under-Display Face ID to 2025 or Later: Report
Tech giant Apple reportedly won’t bring the under-screen Face ID feature to the iPhone until 2025 or later.
According to display analyst Ross Young, the iPhone 15 Pro will not have Face ID below the display due to technical issues, reports AppleInsider.
This feature will likely come to the iPhone 17 Pro at the earliest.
There have been rumors that the tech giant could hide biometric technology under the screen ever since the iPhone X debuted its Face ID system.
The feature was recently reported to be available on the iPhone 15 Pro, but it was widely predicted that the iPhone 16 Pro would get it in 2024.
According to the report, the eight-year clause will end if Face ID below the screen debuts on the iPhone 16 in 2025.
In January of this year, it was announced that the iPhone 16 Pro models will have Face ID technology under the display, which will provide a more usable display area.
Meanwhile, in August last year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that “in 2024, high-end iPhones would adopt an under-display front-facing camera alongside under-display Face ID.”
