Experience the Power of OLED: Get Ready for the Apple iPhone 16!
After introducing several new changes to the iPhone 15 series this year, Cupertino-based Apple is reportedly working to bring more updates to the iPhones in 2023. A new report has hinted that the iPhone 16 expected next year may include more powerful power. display.
This would be possible thanks to a new set of OLED materials that Samsung is said to be developing exclusively for Apple, MacRumors reports. According to the report, the set of materials includes various components of OLED displays, such as capping layers (CPL), which adjust the optical properties of the display.
Each component is made by a specialist manufacturer and delivered to Samsung, who then uses them to build the final OLED panel. The composition of the materials in the series can affect various properties of the OLED panel, such as lifespan, brightness, color accuracy or manufacturing efficiency, MacRumors said.
In April, The Elec reported that Samsung is developing a new line of OLED materials called “M14” specifically for Apple’s 2024 iPhones. The exact reason for the development was not known at the time, but according to a recent report by a Korean-language shop, it could be related to improving the energy efficiency of the OLED panel.
Multiple sources indicate that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will include larger screens. The iPhone 16 Pro is predicted to have a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have a 6.9-inch display.
A previous report in September hinted that the iPhone 16’s OLED panels might use microlens technology to maintain or increase the brightness of the displays while potentially reducing their power consumption.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 is also rumored to launch with unique AI features based on the iOS 18 operating system. These new features can include things like improved Siri performance, improved camera capabilities, and more.
According to MacRumors, Apple will unveil a turbocharged version of Siri with large language models (LLM) at WWDC 2024 that will debut in iOS 18, but some new cutting-edge generative AI features may be exclusive to the iPhone 16 models.
