Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal: Tracking Lost Smartphones Just Got Easier with E-Sim!
On Tuesday, Gopal Vittal, CEO and managing director of Bharti Airtel, stated that the shift from regular SIM cards to e-SIMs will improve convenience for subscribers and simplify the process of locating lost smartphones.
In his letter, Vittal urged subscribers to enable e-SIM in Airtel services as all devices that support e-SIM feature are compatible with Airtel e-SIM.
He said that e-SIM is an online extension of a standard SIM card, and with it, subscribers no longer need to access the phone’s physical SIM card.
“In cases of theft, if your device is stolen, it’s much harder for criminals to get rid of your e-SIM card because they’re unlike traditional SIM cards that can be physically removed from phones. This also disappears. The smartphone is easier to track,” Vittal said.
E-Sim is embedded in the smartphone and the services of several mobile phone operators can be digitally configured on the same SIM card.
It cannot be thrown out of the smartphone, as it can be done with a regular SIM card.
“Furthermore, you can use multiple mobile numbers on one e-SIM card if you want. Changing your device with an e-SIM card is also very easy,” Vittal said.
He said Airtel customers can install the e-SIM service on your smartphone that supports the e-SIM feature by following the instructions on the Airtel Thanks App.
“As soon as the e-SIM profile is loaded and activated, it will be activated. As I said, we at Airtel want to do everything we can to ensure that you get the most convenient and efficient connectivity experience possible,” Vittal said.
