Google Joins Forces with India to Create AI with a Conscience
US tech giant Google has announced that the company is working closely with the Indian government and industry stakeholders to develop responsible artificial intelligence (AI). Google shares its expertise and knowledge to create responsible AI.
Google expressed its appreciation for the opportunity to meet with government and industry stakeholders to discuss the development of safeguards against synthetic content.
“We appreciate the opportunity to meet with the government, along with industry stakeholders, to discuss the need to develop safeguards against synthetic content and to share how we are building tools and guardrails to combat the associated risks,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement.
“We are committed to continuing this collaboration and sharing our expertise and knowledge towards our common goal of responsible AI development,” the spokesperson said.
Google strives to develop AI to maximize its positive impact on society while addressing challenges guided by its AI principles. The company is actively building tools and guardrails to prevent misuse of the technology and empower individuals to evaluate online information more effectively.
According to IANS, the company is investing in tools like watermarking and synthetic voice recognition to help people identify content securely online. Google’s statement came after Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met with representatives of major social media platforms and other stakeholders and said the government would draft new rules to detect deep fakes and curb their spread.

Google is said to be developing artificial intelligence-based technology for its web browser, Chrome. In the “Advanced” (AI) section of the Chrome Settings page, there is a new option called “Context Menu Tab Group”. This option allows users to enable or disable the “Organize Tabs” feature.
According to a message published on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), a user named Leopeva64 mentioned that the development of the new settings panel is currently underway. This settings menu is only available to certain testers and users need to scroll through hidden developer flags to access it.
