Background Password Checks Now Available on Google Chrome
If you’re a Google Chrome user, there’s good news: Google’s Security Check feature now runs automatically in the background to ensure online safety. This feature works by checking if any of your online passwords have been compromised.
Now users can have greater peace of mind because they will be “proactively notified if passwords stored in Chrome have been compromised,” Google said. However, this feature is not limited to passwords; it also checks if the web extensions you’ve installed are malicious, if you’re using the latest Chrome build available, and even examines site permissions that might deserve your attention. Google has made it easy for its users to access these alerts directly through Chrome’s three-dot menu, allowing them to act quickly.
Another major benefit that comes with the new revamped Security Check feature is the ability to revoke site permissions – such as access to your location and microphone – if you haven’t visited a particular website for a long time. In fact, the system now goes a step further to flag a website if it’s sending you loads of notifications even when you’re not interacting with it.
Google Chrome provides more information about tab memory usage
While security is the need of the hour, it is also important to focus on smoothness. That’s exactly what Google claims to have done here. It has expanded to Memory Saver mode to make the Chrome desktop run even more smoothly. Now it shows you more information about the tab’s memory usage and also lets users know if the website should “always stay active”.
To enable this feature, all you need to do is go to Google Chrome Settings > Find Performance section > Enable Memory Saver.
