1. Qualcomm AI Hub with 75 models announced
Qualcomm Technologies presented its new AI initiatives at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona. The new Qualcomm AI Hub has 75 pre-optimized AI models such as Whisper, ControlNet, Stable Diffusion and Baichuan 7B. Durga Malladi, vice president and general manager of technology engineering and edge solutions at Qualcomm Technologies, said, “Qualcomm AI Hub provides developers with a comprehensive library of AI models that allow them to quickly and easily integrate pre-optimized AI models into their applications for faster, more reliable and more private user experiences,” according to the release.
2. Truecaller Announces AI Call Recording in India
Trucecaller announced the launch of AI-powered call recording in India for Android and iOS devices. This feature allows users to record calls and manage important conversations. It can also translate the entire call and provide an AI-generated call summary. Truecaller CEO and Product Manager Rishit Jhunjhunwala said, “As we continue to push these boundaries, we are excited to announce our AI-enabled call recording solution, which has always been a highly requested user feature,” according to the release. .
3. Singapore embraces AI to solve everyday problems
The People’s Association partnered with the Singapore government to deploy a generative AI chatbot that helps people find free courts. The AI model also helps users “scan job seekers’ CVs, develop customized curricula and create transcripts of customer service calls.” Communications and Information Minister Josephine Teo said: “Regulations are certainly part of good governance, but in AI we need to ensure that operations are supported by good infrastructures,” according to a Reuters report.
4. Avegant develops AI Smart Glass in cooperation with Qualcomm
Avegant, in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies and Applied Materials, announced plans to develop wireless artificial intelligence glasses powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform. The smart glass features the smallest 30° LCoS light engine and is designed to provide full color, binocular, bright daylight experiences. Ed Tang, CEO of Avegant, said, “Our AG-30L2 features an innovative lighting and optical design that significantly reduces the volume of a lightweight engine, enabling our customers to build true glassy form factor products. The AG-30L2 is now in production, and customers are adopted it and were excited by its small form factor and performance,” according to the release.
5. Krutrim announces a new AI chatbot
AI startup Krutrim, backed by Ola founder and chairman Bhavish Aggarwal, launched an AI-based chatbot. The company emphasized that it is a tough competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. Chatbot is also the first AI unicorn in India. The chatbot is said to run on Multilingual Large Language Models (LLM), also called Krutrim. According to a Moneycontrol report, the tool understands 10 Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati and English.
