Netflix Now Offering Select HBO Series in the US
Believe it or not, an HBO show has made its way to Netflix. The entire five seasons of Insecure, a widely praised comedy-drama series created by Issa Rae, are now available for streaming on Netflix in the US. And that’s not all, as Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) aims to maximize its extensive collection, more HBO shows will be coming to the platform in the future, offering additional revenue opportunities.
Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Six Feet Under and Ballers will also come to Netflix as part of the deal, the company told Deadline. Meanwhile, Netflix users outside the US can stream True Blood. This is the first time HBO content has been released on Netflix in the US, although some has previously been available on Prime Video. The shows can still be seen on Max.

This is part of an effort to increase WBD’s revenue. Late last year, the company removed some notable titles from Max, including Westworld and The Nevers. These shows and many more from the WBD library are available to watch on free, ad-supported channels on Roku, Tubi, and Amazon’s Freevee.
Zaslav and his team have used other tactics to improve WBD’s bottom line. These include removing many shows and movies from Max to cut costs, canceling Max-exclusive projects before completion (in some cases in favor of tax breaks), and laying off employees.
