Google Calendar Enables Users to Mark Their Location at Certain Times of the Day
Google has enhanced a preexisting function in Calendar that enables users to conveniently inform their colleagues about their whereabouts during different time periods. In 2021, the company initially introduced “working locations,” which allowed users to indicate their work locations through their schedules. However, users can now specify their working locations in Calendar for specific time intervals, ensuring a more precise representation of their availability.
As Google announced in its announcement, working from different locations is common for those with a hybrid work environment. This feature can make it easier for coworkers to figure out if they can meet to collaborate in person or if they need to schedule a video conference instead. To use the feature, they can create an event and select a work location before selecting a time frame and specifying their location for those hours. The updated Working Location feature is now available to all Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamental, Education Standard, Education Plus, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Nonprofit users.
The technology giant is also making Google Docs even more creator-friendly. When users launch the app and open a Docs file on an Android device, it now starts in edit mode. No more tapping the edit button – they can now go straight to the document and start writing or changing things right away. Tapping on an open document will immediately bring up the on-screen keyboard, unless they have a physical keyboard attached to their device.
