Apple Now Taking Applications For Vision Pro Headset Developer Kit Access: Requirements and Details

Apple caused a stir in the tech industry with the introduction of its mixed reality headset, known as the Vision Pro, which the company refers to as a “spatial computer.” This release is expected to be Apple’s most important since the debut of the Apple Watch in 2015. Furthermore, Apple has recently begun accepting applications for its Vision Pro developer kit, enabling developers to design applications and immersive experiences for the headset.

Apple is now accepting applications from interested developers for a “borrowable” Vision Pro developer kit, as reported by The Verge.

“We’ll lend you the Vision Pro Developer Kit to prepare your app for the new App Store launch in Vision Pro,” Apple said. Along with the package, developers can also access help getting the device up and running, guidance from Apple experts on user interface design and development, and two “code-level support requests” to help developers troubleshoot their code. Developers must also return their Vison Pro Developer Kits upon Apple’s request.

According to Apple, the kits allow developers to build, iterate and test with Vision Pro.

Apple has also listed a number of requirements that must be met in order to receive the developer kit. First, you must be an Apple Developer Program account holder, and second, you must provide information about your development team’s skills and existing applications.

Apple also mentions that it prioritizes developers who work “to create an app that takes advantage of the features and capabilities of visionOS.” This means that any developer looking to create a native app from scratch will find Apple easier to spot.

Apple Vision Pro will be available to consumers next year, but the exact release date is not yet known. The headset costs $3,499 and is only available in the US, with other countries coming later in 2024.
