Samsung, the leading technology company from South Korea, unveiled its highly anticipated foldable smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, during the Galaxy Unpacked event held in Seoul, South Korea. These cutting-edge devices are equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform and boast an IPX8 rating.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5 Price and color options and availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is available in 256GB RAM, 512GB and 1TB storage variants, while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is available in 256GB and 512GB inbuilt storage options. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is priced at $999 (roughly Rs. 82,000) and is available in Blue, Cream, Graphite, Grey, Green, Lavender, Mint and Yellow colors. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, on the other hand, is available at a starting price of $1,799 (roughly Rs. 1,47,000). Samsung’s new foldable smartphones will be available starting August 11 in select countries.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5 Specifications
Both Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 come with IPX8 support, Armor Aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 (both Flex Window and back cover). The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is equipped with a 7.6-inch QXGA+Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display inside and a 6.2-inch HD+ cover display with Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. Both screens have a 120 Hz refresh rate.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform and runs on Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1. The device gets four operating system updates and five years of security updates. For photos and videos, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is equipped with a triple rear camera, including a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. The phone has two front cameras – one on the cover screen (10MP) and the other on the inner screen (4MP) for video calls and selfies. The device is also backed by a 4,400 mAh battery.
The upcoming device for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED 60 Hz cover display and a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED main display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen and back panel also have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is also equipped with a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform and runs on Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1. The device gets four operating system updates and five years of security updates. In terms of optics, the device has two rear cameras – a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera. For selfies and video calls, it has a 10-megapixel front-facing camera on its inner screen. Samsung has put a 3,700 mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which supports 25 W fast charging.
