The group stood in front of Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, livestreaming the event on Twitter – with speakers from both groups advocating a common cause. Some speakers expressed frustration with the company’s policy of requiring employees to return to the office at least three days a week, and told stories of how telecommuting prompted by the COVID pandemic bought and saved them precious hours at home with their families. Hours of daily commuting time. Another speaker connected the idea to the company’s climate goals and emphasized that remote work has made it possible for several families to become one-car families. This echoes complaints from some groups that Amazon is not meeting its own goals in its climate commitment to reach zero emissions by 2040.
