Android Users To Have Access To ChatGPT App Starting Next Week

The Google Play Store is now accepting pre-registrations for OpenAI’s ChatGPT app, allowing Android users to sign up before its official launch next week. While the iOS version of the app has been available for almost two months, the release date for the Android version had been uncertain until recently.

OpenAI announced on Twitter that the ChatGPT app for Android users will be available next week and that pre-orders are now available from the Google Play Store.

Android users can currently access the generative AI platform by visiting the ChatGPT website in a browser. However, if the iPhone app is anything to go by, users can expect a more user-friendly interface, and perhaps the Android version may even offer haptic feedback — like it does for iOS — when interacting with the app’s interface.

Additionally, based on the screenshots shared in the Play Store listing, the app’s user interface is largely the same, except for how the menus work. The iOS three-dot menu has been replaced with an Android-style hamburger menu in the top left corner of Android.

Pre-register for the ChatGPT Android app as follows:

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
  2. Search for “ChatGPT” or click here.
  3. Tap ‘Install.’
  4. A dialog box will appear telling you that the application will be installed automatically when it is available.
  5. That’s it! The app will automatically download and install on your Android device when it’s available.
  6. You can also turn off automatic installation if you want to install the app manually when it becomes available.
