Apple Discontinues Customer Service Through Social Media Platforms
Apple no longer offers customer support at Elon Musk’s X Corp (formerly Twitter) and now directs customers to its own website.
Customers who send a direct message to the @AppleSupport account on X will receive an automated reply that includes links to the Get Support page on Apple’s website and the Apple Support app for iPhone and iPad, MacRumors reports.
The account also automatically replies to all messages sent by customers. “It looks like you’re having a problem with your iPhone. We can help, but to provide the best support, we’d like to continue this conversation on another support channel,” the message says.
It also means that Apple Support won’t help customers who tag the company in messages.
The account description previously said it was “available every day to answer your questions,” but the text was removed this week.
According to the report, the account continues to share tips, tricks and useful information, including videos from YouTube’s Apple Support channel. Apple has provided human support on Twitter since 2016.
The in-person support of the Apple Support community will continue temporarily during the transition to phone support.
According to the report, responses to comments on videos uploaded to Apple’s YouTube support channel appear to have stopped.
