Apple Expected to Introduce USB-C Accessories Following iPhone 15 Release, Including MagSafe Battery Pack
As the iPhone 15 series prepares to launch in a few days, with a rumored USB-C port as part of an effort to comply with EU regulations and move away from the Lightning connector, it’s expected that its accessories will also switch to USB. -C in the near future, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
According to a MacRumors report, Mark Gurman has suggested that Apple quickly switch supporting accessories like AirPods and Mac accessories to USB-C. “They need to release a new MagSafe Duo with USB-C,” Gurman told MacRumors. He also mentioned that Apple “can certainly upgrade the MagSafe battery” to use USB-C.
It remains uncertain when, if at all, these USB-C-equipped accessories will be released, or at Apple’s upcoming Wonderlust event. However, with rumors of the second-generation AirPods Pro moving to USB-C, it would make sense for Apple to offer other products with the same port.
In particular, several popular accessories, such as the Apple Magic Mouse and the first generation Apple Pencil, currently have a Lightning connector.
Gurman also mentioned that a new MagSafe battery pack is in development, but not yet ready for release. He noted that it allows users to charge two different devices simultaneously on two different sides of the battery.
Despite this, the iPhone 15 series with USB-C is scheduled to be released on September 12. During the event, Apple may also introduce the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra and the Apple Watch Series 9. In addition, it has been rumored that Apple will introduce a new USB-C case for the second generation AirPods Pro.
