Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max Expected To Feature ‘Super’ Telephoto Camera In 2024: Details Here
According to reports, Apple, the tech giant headquartered in the United States, is said to be preparing for the release of the iPhone 16 Pro Max in 2024. This upcoming model is expected to feature a super telephoto periscope camera, which will significantly enhance the device’s optical zoom capabilities.
According to a report on Weibo’s Digital Chat Station, “super” or “ultra” telephoto is usually given to cameras with a focal length of more than 300mm that zooms in strongly and pulls in distant subjects. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro models have a telephoto focal length of 77mm, so a focal length of more than 300mm on the iPhone 16 Pro Max would be a very big addition.
Super telephoto cameras are perfect for sports and nature photography. They also create beautifully blurred backgrounds, making them useful for portraits if there’s enough distance between the subject and the Photographer, MacRumors said.
According to MacRumors, the change will apparently be facilitated by Apple’s update to the periscope telephoto camera system, starting with the iPhone 15 Pro Max later this year. With next year’s iPhone 16 Pro models, iPhone makers are reportedly planning to bring a telephoto camera to both “Pro” models, which is apparently possible by increasing the size of the smaller model.
As such, giving the iPhone 16 Pro Max a super teleperiscope would allow Apple to maintain the distinction between the two Pro devices next year.
A Weibo user reiterated that the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 12% larger camera sensor measuring 1/1.14 inches. Currently, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have a 1/1.28-inch sensor, and this year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max is not expected to increase in size.
A larger sensor can improve the iPhone’s main camera’s dynamic range, background blur, and low-light photography capabilities. With a larger surface area, it can capture more light using the same shutter speed and aperture, according to the report.
According to reports, the iPhone 16 models could feature the first Apple-designed modem chip, as well as updated Face ID technology, a possible portless design, a high-end “Ultra” model and more.
