Apple to Provide Specialized Training to Select Store Employees for Vision Pro Headset
Apple plans to make the Vision Pro headphones available in selected countries from the beginning of 2024, and before then the company wants its stores to get in-depth information about the product. A new media report claims that Apple will hold a secret product training event for select store employees to be trained on the Vision Pro headset before handling store requirements when the product is sold in Apple Stores starting next year.
The Bloomberg report also mentions that Apple is holding a round of interviews to decide which of the store’s employees will be flown to Cupertino, California in the early months of 2024.
These employees are given all the details and complex procedures of using the Vision Pro headset. Once they are back in their own stores, they are entrusted with teaching about the products and learning from Apple’s Cupertino training.
The company hopes to get at least two people from the staff of the retail stores to train at the head office. Based on these timelines, it’s unlikely that Apple will make the product available in the first few months of 2024 for the Vision Pro headset.
The same report also talks about Apple’s preference for setting up dedicated hands-on spaces at Apple Stores like Apple BKC in Mumbai, but mostly limited to its flagship retail stores in the US for the first phase of the product.
Apple introduced the Vision Pro headset at WWDC 2023 earlier this year, and Apple CEO Tim Cook has talked about using the device to watch his favorite Apple TV+ shows, hinting at the headset’s versatility. It is expected to be available in the US initially at a hefty price of $3499 (roughly Rs. 2.88 lakh).
