Apple Vision Pro Receives Initial Operating System Update, Successfully Addressing a Minor Irritation

It’s been almost a couple of weeks since the Apple Vision Pro headset finally hit the market, albeit only in the US. After release, reviewers and consumers were quick to point out one minor annoyance: the Vision Pro failed to reset itself if you forgot the password.

Apple has been quick to address this issue and today released the VisionOS 1.0.3 update, the first update since the release, as spotted by MacRumors. This update allows Vision Pro users to reset the headset if they forget the device passcode they originally set.

Previously, the only way to reset the headset was to take it back to an Apple Store. If there wasn’t one nearby, users would have had to send the headphones to Apple support. Fortunately, this update now solves this small but frustrating annoyance.

Along with this hotfix, the update also brings a number of undisclosed bug fixes that affect the headset. Apple’s release note says, “This update includes important bug fixes and adds an option to reset your device if you’ve forgotten your password.”

While customers can now reset the headset themselves after failed attempts, it doesn’t change the fact that they still need to reset the headset to set it up again. So it is important to remember the access code. Also, when you reset the headset, the Apple activation will remain in place and you will need to enter the original Apple ID that was used to set up the device.
