How to Change or Reset Your UPI PIN if You Forgot It
The ongoing technological development has given a significant boost to online banking, especially with the Unified Payments Interface or UPI. This instant real-time payment system allows users to send money instantly from one bank to another.
UPI also acts as an alternative payment option to IMPS or NEFT and enables safe transfer of funds. To make UPI payments, users need to set up their UPI account and generate a UPI PIN, a password that is used every time to authorize a transaction from your mobile payment apps.
What is a UPI PIN?
UPI PIN, which stands for Unified Payments Interface Personal Identification Number, is a four- or six-digit number that users set themselves during UPI registration or later. While users can choose their own UPI code, which makes it easier for them to remember, there are also instances where we often forget our UPI code or cannot use UPI accounts on platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm.
However, you can always reset or change your UPI PIN by following several simple steps.
How to Change UPI PIN?
1. Open a mobile payment application that supports your UPI service.
2. Go to the profile option shown on the home screen.
3. Next, click on the bank account option whose UPI PIN you want to change.
4. Click on Change UPI PIN/Reset UPI PIN option.
5. Add the necessary information, such as ATM or payment card information related to your bank account.
6. When you enter the card details, you will receive an OTP by message to your registered mobile number.
7. Complete the following steps by entering the OTP.
8. Now enter the new four or six digit UPI PIN for the selected account.
9. Re-enter the PIN for verification and click on the Confirm option to complete the process.
Note: Bank details are not required to change UPI PIN on all platforms. Circumstances vary accordingly.
Meanwhile, since the UPI PIN has complete control over the funds in your bank account, it is important to keep it highly confidential and also set an easy-to-remember PIN.
