Elon Musk’s ‘X’ to Launch News Publishing Platform: Here’s What We Know

It’s been a year since Elon Musk bought X (formerly Twitter) for a whopping $44 billion. And since then, the microblogging platform has seen numerous changes – both big and small – to revamp the overall experience. Whether it’s ditching the old checkmarks in favor of X Premium (formerly Twitter Blue), which lets you buy a blue checkmark with money, or the newer rebranding as X – an “everything” app with features like video. and voice calls.

Now the platform, led by CEO Linda Yaccarino and Elon Musk, may be bringing news publishing to the platform. In particular, this has been one of Elon Musk’s main goals since he bought the platform in October of last year, and now the plan could take shape.

According to a Bloomberg report, X’s new electronic service will be called XWire and will compete directly with PR and news services such as Cision’s PR Newswire. The same was revealed at an internal X meeting attended by both Musk and Yaccarino.

Musk himself is a big advocate of “citizen journalism” and a skeptic of mainstream media and “media elites.” “As Twitter seeks to elevate citizen journalism, the media elite will try everything to stop it from happening,” Musk said in November 2022, a few days after the X acquisition.

And recently, Musk sent another message to X saying, “Citizen journalism is the way to a better future! I encourage people around the world to post news about events as they happen, both in text and video.”

It remains to be seen which way X will move with this move and when it will be released.
