Elon Musk’s X to Receive Upgrade with Premium Feature for Improved Exploration
Elon Musk is actively striving to increase the number of premium users on X (formerly Twitter), as evident from recent developments. Throughout 2023, the platform has introduced several exclusive features exclusively available to X Premium subscribers. However, some of these features have sparked controversy, with users claiming that they limit the functionality for free users and labeling them as overly restrictive. In addition to these concerns, a recent report has unveiled X’s plans to introduce another premium feature called Enhanced Discovery, which will enable users to explore similar or related features.
According to a report by Android Authority, which found the feature in the string of the latest beta version of X for Android, the Enhanced Discovery feature has been added to the backend.

Improved Discovery feature coming to X

As you can see in the above code line, the new feature allows you to find related content in posts. A blue upsell title that says “Subscribe Premium to unlock enhanced discovery” indicates that it is a premium feature.
Interestingly, X already has a few ways to search for similar content. Users can search for such posts using hashtags, check trends, or do manual keyword searches. It is currently unclear how this feature will work and how it will change the functionality of existing methods.
Recently, X has added another feature for premium users. The Elon Musk-owned social media platform now allows users to limit post replies to only those who have been verified by X, which means they have a $7.99 monthly subscription. Currently, X has not made it the default, and “anyone can reply” is still the default unless changed by the user. Some users refer to this feature as a “paywall” for replying to messages, which is considered a basic feature of social media platforms.
