EU To Investigate Microsoft’s Role In UK Activision Acquisition Agreement
EU antitrust regulators are investigating whether Microsoft’s proposal to sell non-EU cloud streaming rights to Ubisoft Entertainment in order to win UK approval for its Activision Blizzard bid will affect Microsoft’s concessions to the European Commission.
“We are closely following developments in the United Kingdom and assessing its impact on the commitments adopted by the Commission,” a representative of the European Union’s executive branch said in an email.
The EU competition watchdog approved the deal in May after Microsoft agreed to license popular Activision games such as “Call of Duty” to rival game streaming platforms for 10 years.
