Exploring the Wide Range of AI Applications: From Detection to Bollywood Villains
Today marked a significant milestone in the field of artificial intelligence. The Indian government has been utilizing AI for various purposes, including the development of a language platform called Bhashini, which aims to eliminate language barriers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented this AI platform to members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and expressed his willingness to share it. Within the country, a recent study conducted by the Union Ministry of Communications, which extensively employed AI, revealed that over 4 million phone numbers in India were acquired through fraudulent means. These are just a few highlights from today’s AI roundup. Let’s delve deeper into the details.
The investigation found that lakhs of phone numbers were obtained illegally
A report by Indian Express has shared the findings of a recent study by AI that analyzed 87.85 million mobile phone connections across India. The study revealed that among them, 40.87 lakh (0.47%) phone numbers were obtained with forged documents.
Communications Ministry Secretary K Rajaraman on Tuesday issued an internal communication to Superintendents and Superintendents of Police of all states and Union Territories stating that the sale of 38 lakh out of 40.87 lakh fake phone numbers has been stopped.
As many as 44,582 point-of-sale (PoS) telecommunication services were found to sell such connections. A study on the matter stated, “DoT has identified and blacklisted 44,582 telecom service providers. However, only 181 FIRs have been registered across India, covering only 1,575 fraudulent PoS from all offenders.”
Artificial Intelligence Identification The industry is witnessing an upswing
A small consequence of the generative AI boom has been felt in the AI detection industry, which is also experiencing its own rise. A report by The Guardian highlights that ChatGPT, like AI, continues to have a major impact on education as students use its help to submit assignments and write college essays. As a result, many new tools are emerging that claim to be able to detect the writing style of AI.
Two helpful tips shared by industry insiders are that a sign of AI-generated content is an overuse of “the.” Another sign is that the sentences have an anti-style that shows a lack of human touch and an unnecessary confusion of words.
