Exynos chipset version of Samsung Galaxy S21 has been evaluated to have lower performance than Snapdragon version
Earlier this year, Samsung came under heavy criticism for the performance of its Exynos processor in the Samsung Galaxy S20 series of smartphones, compared to the performance of its international Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset processor. Someone even filed a petition about it. Although the South Korean tech company has reconfirmed that its Exynos chipsets perform as well as Snapdragon counterparts, the story is the same for the upcoming Galaxy S21 series.
There have already been reports suggesting that the global version of the Galaxy S21 features Snapdragon 875, a 5nm processor slated for launch next month. Some regions are said to ship with the Exynos 2100. Sammobile’s website a few months ago spotted the Exynos version of the Galaxy S21 going through GeekBench and providing 1308 points for single-core testing and 3060 points for multi-core. . Now, the Qualcomm Snapdragon version of S21 has been spotted on Geekbench.
According to the benchmark found by Sammobile, the model number – SM-G996U scored 1120 points in single-core tests and 3319 points in multi-core tests, both of which are more than what Exynos models have achieved before.
However, before jumping to a conclusion, note that the Exynos benchmarks were two months old and the chipset could use some improvement and might perform better by the time they hit the market. Additionally, a recent report from Android Central suggests that the Exynos 2100 will perform on par or better than the Snapdragon 875 in terms of raw power and efficiency. However, we would still have to wait until 2021 to know the full story.
This time around, the S21 series would arrive ahead of its usual launch time of late February. The series comprising the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra would be launched in January itself.
