Google celebrates International Women’s Day with a logo design that highlights how women support each other
Technology giant Google celebrated International Women’s Day on Wednesday with a logo design that illustrates the different ways women support each other.
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year to recognize the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide.
“The vignettes in each ‘GOOGLE’ letter highlight just a few of the many areas in which women around the world are supporting each other to advance and improve each other’s lives,” Google said in a statement.
The image shows women in positions of influence advocating progress in women’s lives everywhere; women coming together to explore, learn and collect their rights; women who are primary caregivers from all walks of life; and women who are critical support systems for each other in their motherhood.
Also, when you click on the Doodle, purple confetti falls on the screen and women raise purple flags with matching wristbands.
“What it is to be a woman can’t really be captured in one image,” said doodle artist Alyssa Winans, who created the illustration, in a statement.
The doodle is “just a jumping off point to think about how vast, complex, nuanced and powerful the concept of womanhood is,” Winans added.
“In honor of women around the world who support each other in all aspects of life – Happy International Women’s Day!” Google said.
