Google Gemini AI gains precise control with chatbot enabling users to creatively adjust responses.

Google has recently introduced a new feature for its Gemini AI-powered chatbot, aiming to give users extensive customization options. This update enables users to carefully adjust the responses provided by the chatbot, providing a level of control that has not been available previously.

Unlike traditional chatbot interactions, where the entire response may require reprocessing, this feature allows users to focus on specific parts of the text. The tool allows users to make precise adjustments, whether it’s adjusting the length, regenerating a selected segment, or even deleting it entirely. For now, this functionality is available exclusively in the web app version of Gemini without the mobile app extension.

In a recent announcement, Google stated: “We’re introducing a more precise way for you to adjust Gemini’s responses. Start the Gemini web app in English, just select the part of the text you want to change, and instruct Gemini to get a result that better matches your expectations.” The purpose of this improvement is to give users more control over their creation process by facilitating edits on a more localized level.

Here’s how to get the most out of the feature

Using the feature is simple. All users need to do is select the piece of text they want to edit and the pencil icon will appear. When you click the icon, a pop-up menu offers four options: recreate, shorten, lengthen, and delete. These options allow users to customize the response according to their preferences and tailor it to meet specific requirements.

However, it is important to note the possible limitations. According to a report by 9to5Google, users may encounter a “Gemini couldn’t do that” response in certain situations, often due to unsupported text formatting changes, lack of editing instructions, or queries the chatbot doesn’t understand.

Google imposes restrictions on changing text responses derived from plugins, responses containing code blocks, and selections containing images. Currently, this feature is limited to English and works exclusively on the web version of Gemini, with no immediate plans to expand to other languages or platforms.
