Google Messages for the Web gets iMessages-like emoji reactions
In May this year, Google released support for iMessages-like emoji reactions in its Messages app. At the time, the company had not launched this feature on the web. Now Google is changing this status quo by integrating this functionality into the Messages web platform.
According to a 9TB5 Google report, Google has started rolling out support for emoji reactions in the Google Messages web app. In particular, this functionality is the same as that available in the mobile application of Google Messages.
When users hover over a message, they will see an emoji icon towards the right side of the message with a three dot overflow menu. From there, when Google Messages hovers over the emoji icon, they’ll see a bunch of emoji reactions including Thumbs Up, Like, LOL, Surprise, Sad, Angry, and Thumbs Down.
From there, users can choose any emoji they want to use and it will be reflected in the recipient’s message flow through RCS.
This feature is being rolled out to a wider audience and should be available to all users in the coming days.
In addition, Google has deployed messages based on rich communication to users around the world. This service brings new chat features along with support for high quality photos and videos, receipt reading, and feedback sharing, among others.
