Google Pay Now Allows UPI Payments Through Aadhaar Without A Debit Card
Google Pay has launched a new registration method for users in India that eliminates the need for a debit card to access its payment service. Instead, users can now sign up for UPI payment using their Aadhaar number, which is expected to benefit millions who rely on debit cards for cash withdrawals and other services.
UPI has been the fastest growing payment method in India for the past few years and apps like Google Pay have certainly served their purpose as many people have been able to make a payment in just a few steps. So how does Aadhaar-centric payment work on Google Pay and what all do you need to use this feature? Google has listed the steps and we will tell you how it actually works.
Google Pay Payment Via Aadhaar: How to Set Up and Use
– Open the Google Pay app on your phone and click Add account to start using the service
– Select the bank that is registered with your mobile number and click Next
– Now click on Aadhaar status to verify your number and bank account
– Now enter the first six digits of the Aadhaar linked to the bank account
– Generate a 4 or 6 digit UPI PIN that will be used to authorize your transaction
– The bank sends an OTP to your registered mobile phone number
– Set the 6-digit UPI PIN and confirm it again
– Your bank account is now added with Aadhaar number
Users who want to take UPI through Aadhaar must ensure that (a) their phone numbers registered with UIDAI and bank are the same and (b) their bank account is linked with Aadhaar.

Google says Aadhaar-based login to Pay will work if your UIDAI and bank registered phone numbers are the same. Your bank account is also linked to your Aadhaar number. Google claims that it does not store the Aadhaar number and exists only to facilitate payment through the NPCI server in Google Pay.
