Google Pixel Offers Car Crash Detection Feature in India
US-based tech giant Google has announced that it will roll out the car crash detection feature in five new countries including India, Austria, Belgium, Portugal and Switzerland on its Pixel smartphones. The crash detection feature is only available on Pixel 4a, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in India.
For users in global markets, the car crash detection feature is currently available on the Pixel 4a and all later models, as well as the Pixel Fold. It is important to note that this feature is currently available in 11 languages, including English, Danish, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, and several others. As of now it is not available in Hindi.
What is Google’s car crash detection feature?
Crash detection, found in the Personal Safety app on Pixel phones, is an important safety feature. When crash detection is on, your phone will vibrate, ring loudly, and ask, Do you need help, both out loud and on the phone screen, if your phone detects that you’ve been in a serious car accident.
You have 60 seconds to swipe “I’m fine” or “Call 911.” If you don’t answer, the phone will automatically call local emergency services and share your real-time location. If there is no answer, the phone will automatically contact local emergency services and share your exact location. The approximate location of your device is also shared.
By selecting I’m fine; brings three options – No Collision, Minor Crash and Call 112. If you contact emergency services, you’ll get additional prompts to let you know if it’s a medical, fire or police emergency so you can alert 911 without having to speak. . You can also set up emergency contacts and share your status with them in the event of an accident.
How to Enable Google Pixel Car Crash Detection
– Turn on crash detection by opening the Personal Safety app. (If this is your first time opening the app, add your emergency contact information and medical information according to the on-screen instructions)
– Tap on Properties.
– Scroll down to Car Crash Detection. Tap Manage settings.
– Turn on Crash detection or if you are asked to turn on crash detection, tap Yes, I’m in.
– Then follow the on-screen instructions to enable location permissions, access your physical activity, and record audio.
Before enabling crash detection, note that crash detection does not work in airplane mode or when power saving is on. Your phone may not be able to detect all crashes.
Your Pixel phone may not be able to call emergency services in some cases, such as when your phone is connected to a weak mobile network or during a call. Impressive actions can also trigger calls to emergency services.
