Mukesh Ambani Announces Availability of Artificial Intelligence to All Through Jio at AGM
On Monday, Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, announced that Jio Platforms aims to take the lead in creating India-specific Artificial Intelligence models and solutions in various fields. The objective is to provide the advantages of this advanced technology to Indian citizens, businesses, and the government.
“Seven years ago, Jio promised broadband for everyone, everywhere. We have delivered. Today, Jio promises AI for everyone, everywhere. And we are delivering,” Mukesh Ambani said at the 46th annual meeting of Reliance Industries.
“India has the scale. India has the data. India has the talent. But we also need a digital infrastructure in India that can handle the massive computing demands of AI,” he said.
“But we also need digital infrastructure in India that can handle the massive computing demands of AI. As this sector expands, we are committed to creating up to 2,000 MW of AI-enabled computing capacity, both in the Cloud and at the Edge. And we will do this while embracing sustainable practices and a greener future,” he added.
Due to India’s strong IT industry and large amount of data, AI-based utilities can tap into the huge potential in the country. Many countries around the world have used artificial intelligence technologies to improve service delivery and reduce human intervention, but the fear of job losses persists.
Mukesh Ambani also announced on Monday that the company will launch Jio AirFiber on Ganesh Chaturthi (September 19). Reliance aims to tap into an untapped segment in the market of over 200 million Indian homes.
What is Jio AirFiber:
JioAirFiber offers fiber-like speed over the air without wires. Users just need to plug it in, turn it on, and have a personal Wi-Fi hotspot at home.
Multiple devices, including smartphones, computers, tablets, smart TVs and set-top boxes, can be connected simultaneously without compromising internet speed.
