Musk’s xAI technology to power chatbot Grok for exclusive X premium subscribers
On Tuesday, Elon Musk announced that the chatbot Grok from the artificial intelligence startup xAI will now be available to all premium subscribers of the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.
He announced it in X publication without revealing any more details. Previously, the chatbot was only available to Premium subscribers.
As more advertisers move away from the microblogging platform, the billionaire has emphasized reducing the company’s reliance on advertising and focusing on more attractive subscription plans.
Earlier this month, Musk said XAI would use the open-source Grok when he sued OpenAI for allegedly abandoning its original mission in favor of a for-profit model.
The move could give the public free access to experiment with the code behind the technology and connect xAI with companies like Meta and France’s Mistral, both of which have open-source AI models.
