Porsche Gives a Peek at its Electric Super Car Future with Mission X Concept
Porsche has introduced its newest concept car, the Mission X, which offers a sneak peek into the potential appearance of future sports cars. The Mission X is an electric hypercar that draws inspiration from Porsche’s previous models, such as the 959, Carrera GT, and 918 Spyder. The vehicle has a compact design, measuring 177 inches in length, 78.7 inches in width, and 47.2 inches in height, with a low-slung body.
The model presented by Porsche features a “Rocket Metallic” finish, although large parts of the vehicle feature a lightweight glass dome with an exoskeleton made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. These parts include half the passenger doors, which are made in the style of Le Mans sports cars and open forward and upwards. Inside, there are two seats made of leather and carbon fiber reinforced plastic, an open steering wheel, and several cameras and clocks on the dashboard that can display lap times and the driver’s vital statistics.
Porsche has also designed the vehicle’s staggered tires – 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear – for aerodynamic purposes. If the Mission X ever goes into production, the automaker plans to make it the fastest road vehicle around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Germany’s popular circuit. Its battery is centrally mounted behind the seats and features a 900-volt system architecture capable of charging the vehicle twice as fast as the Taycan Turbo S. If it ever becomes an actual product that people can buy, of course. For now, it’s just a concept, and you can check out more images of the vehicle on Porsche’s Mission X portal.
