Reliance JioPages made in India browser app updated with Google search alternative and more
Reliance Jio recently entered the mobile browser industry with its own JioPages app. It is the company’s potential rival to Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox and others. A bunch of features were hinted at on the browser at launch. However, not all of them were available when it was deployed to the general public. Some of them are being rolled out as part of the JioPages update.
The first is the inclusion of Duck Duck Go search engine. This means that you can now select Duck Duck Go Search Engine by default. It is said to be safer because it does not record user information and only uses cookies when necessary. You can select this search engine by going to the hamburger icon at the bottom right> Settings> Quick settings> Select search engine.
The second feature included in the update is Short Videos . This means that JioPages users can now watch short videos up to 30 seconds long. This will be available in a dedicated section and will fall under various categories including entertainment, tech, lifestyle, travel and more. For video, you can head to the bottom bar, Explore section> Scroll to short videos reel> Show more.
Finally, you get easy navigation with the exit buttons. Thus, with the Quit button, you can quickly quit the application. The navigation buttons will help you move back and forth in JioPages.
JioPages is based on the Chromium Blink engine and promises to deliver “an enhanced browsing experience through faster engine migration, top-notch web page rendering, faster page loads, efficient media streaming, support for the Emoji domain and an encrypted connection. ” The company also markets it as a browser made in India.
