Remember to keep your Apple Vision Pro Passcode secure to avoid potential data loss
If you buy Apple Vision Pro, be sure to remember your password, as forgetting it can be a big problem. This is because if you forget, the only way to fix it is to go to an Apple Store or send it to Apple Customer Support. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this has been a headache for early adopters of mixed reality headsets.
To complicate matters, Apple support also receives questions about the implementation of the new Optic ID biometric system. It’s like Face ID or Touch ID, but instead of your face or fingerprint, it scans your eyes.
Here’s the catch: if you enter the password incorrectly too many times, it can disable the device. After waiting for the cooldown period, if you still get it wrong, your only option is to send it to Apple to have it reset. This means that all your data on it will be deleted.
Interestingly, this passcode issue is not a problem with other Apple products such as the Apple Watch. And since the Vision Pro is a first-generation product and Apple’s first new product line in nearly a decade, such issues are expected to arise. Bloomberg reports that Apple’s own customer support finds solving these problems challenging.
Apple Vision Pro is currently only available in the US. The Vision Pro comes in three versions: a base 256GB model, a 512GB version and a top-of-the-line 1TB version. They are priced at $3,499, $3,699 and $3,899 respectively.
