Report: Apple is in the early stages of developing a HomePod with a display similar to an iPad.
Apple is currently working on an updated next-generation HomePod with an iPad-like display, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports.
In his PowerOn newsletter, Gurman notes that this product is not expected to be released this year. Additionally, he speculates that Apple may be exploring the development of an iPad-like smart display designed to magnetically attach to surfaces such as walls. “So far, I don’t think Apple has made enough progress on any of these devices to consider them imminent,” Gurman said.
In addition, it is believed that Apple is in the development phase and has progressed on track with foreign suppliers such as BYD, which is known as the manufacturer of some iPad models. However, if Apple decides to continue with the product, the same device would be realized in 2025 at the earliest.
Additionally, two key people involved in this development are Matt Costello and Brian Lynch – both Apple executives in the hardware division.
In December last year, tipster Kosinski claimed that this new HomePod, codenamed B720, is expected to feature a curved display panel at the top of the speaker. Kosinski also shared images of what could be the product’s top case. Prior to this, Gurman himself and another prominent analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, have drawn attention to this alleged pattern.
That being said, these are still early rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt until we get something more concrete from Apple.
