Unlock the Magic of ‘Filmed on iPhone’ at the Jio MAMI Film Festival 2023!
Apple continues to innovate with each new generation of iPhones, offering improved performance, battery life, and design. However, this year, the company has made a notable leap in enhancing the camera of the iPhone 15 model. Alongside the buzz surrounding the iPhone 15 Pro Max camera, Apple has revealed that their recent M3 MacBook launch event was filmed using an iPhone and edited on an iMac. In a bid to inspire aspiring filmmakers, the Jio MAMI Film Festival 2023 has introduced a new initiative called the “Jio MAMI Select – Filmed on iPhone” program. Learn more about this exciting development here.
Jio MAMI Select – Shot on iPhone
Jio MAMI Filmed on iPhone is a program where five talented filmmakers get an opportunity to revive traditional cinematic ways and create a short film that will be shot on an iPhone 15 Pro Max and edited on a MacBook Pro. Therefore, the creators’ short film does not involve large cameras or numerous editing tools, they only have to use an iPhone and an iMac to create an entire film.
Jio MAMI in partnership with Apple has selected five filmmakers who illustrate modern cinematic ways through their films. The makers of the film are Archana Atul Phadke, Faraz Ali, Prateek Vats, Saurav Rai and Saumyananda Sahi. These shortlisted candidates are directed by Vishal Bhardwaj who is famously known for his award winning short film ‘Fursat’ on iPhone. In addition, Vikramaditya Motwane and Rohan Sippy will mentor selected filmmakers. Jio MAMI Festival Director Anupama Chopra said, “We are excited to announce Jio MAMI Select – Filmed on iPhone – to empower young and emerging filmmakers to tell the stories they are passionate about. I can’t wait to see all the incredible things these filmmakers are doing on iPhone 15 with Pro Max and MacBook Pro.”
Later, in collaboration with Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, a special screening event will be organized to showcase the short films shot on the iPhone. The event will be held in April 2024. After the first screening, the short film will be released on Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival’s YouTube channel.
